Spelling to Communicate method. Silence Is Not Always Golden.
S2C Practitioner. Serving Nonspeaking Individuals in L.A,Orange, & Riverside counties, CA.
What Is Spelling to Communicate (S2C)?
Spelling to Communicate (S2C) is an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) approach that allows nonspeaking, minimally speaking, and unreliable speaking individuals to express their thoughts by pointing to letters to spell words.
S2C is grounded in a key truth:
Many nonspeaking individuals understand far more than they can physically express—not because of a lack of intelligence, but due to motor planning and coordination challenges.
Presume competence. Support the body. Unlock the mind.
Why I Do This Work
My journey into Spelling to Communicate began with my son.
He was a nonspeaker for the first 20 years of his life. In his very first session with an S2C practitioner, I watched in disbelief as he spelled words on a letterboard—revealing thoughts and understanding that had always been there, waiting for a way out. That moment changed everything. I do this work because I’ve seen what’s possible.

testimonial
My daughter Cinthia began spelling therapy with Rashmi in April 2025. Initially, I believed Cinthia did not know the English alphabet because she is non-verbal, but Rashmi reassured me otherwise—and proved it. I was amazed to see Cinthia answer comprehension questions after passages were read to her and even express her feelings during sessions. Rashmi’s calm, intuitive approach—using breathing techniques, music, sensory support, and breaks—helped Cinthia stay focused and regulated. This therapy has truly been an eye-opener for our family, showing us how much our non-verbal children understand and want to communicate. We are deeply grateful to Rashmi for her dedication and support.
